MSR Design's new digs are situated in the late mid-century 510 Marquette Blgd in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. After a complete gut, the single story office space encompasses flexible meeting rooms, teaming areas, charette and work spaces, and has been fully reconfigured for a post-Covid capacity. And bonus, they achieved LEED Platinum in their redesign for use of salvaged spaces and materials.
Another new Hewitt work, the Luna combined flagship PCC retail stores at its base in a series of 5 interconnected residential building units sitting atop a single base, and connected by outdoor corridors, balconies and perforated with planted breezeways to maximize airflow and park views to the east and mountain and ocean views to the west. Very European vibe!
In collaboration with Leicht Seattle and YS Built, Lara photographed the sublime renovation of the kitchen from a 1930's art deco apartment of a design minded couple with an endless collection of monochromatic antiques, and a slinky black cat too!
Designed by David Coleman Architecture, the Field House sits nestled on a 10-acre site in a rural equestrian community in the Cascade foothills. Beautiful minimalism and strongly angled proportions, windows, and an inner aquarium like planting space are all custom fit for the retired engineer bachelor who resides there.
On our first official commercial assignment since shelter in place, this awesome new apartment block adjacent the Seattle Center campus, was a refreshing breath of fresh air. Great attention to outdoor - indoor connection as well as overall outdoor environment, along with great exterior detailing, Hewitt landscaping and architecture teams added greatly to the lower Queen Ann urban fabric.
